2,000 pilots by 2025. Lufthansa’s new campaign

Over 2000 new pilots

Lufthansa Group is looking for over 2,000 new pilots by the end of 2025 to develop its growing fleet of aircraft. Their latest recruitment campaign, “flybig”, sheds light on the many exciting aspects of being a pilot.

Pilots of tomorrow

Lufthansa’s campaign focuses on the pilot profession, avoiding common slogans. “Pilots of tomorrow” not only fly planes – they are also team managers and on-board hosts in a global work environment.

Who wants to take the pilot’s seat?

“Flybig” is addressed to both novice pilots and previously trained pilots ready to work for Lufthansa Group airlines. The group especially appeals to young women who want to pursue a career in the cockpit of an airplane. However, anyone who wants to take the pilot’s seat must demonstrate strong team spirit and excellent interpersonal skills: “A key instrument in the cockpit: social skills” – this is one of the main messages of the campaign.

The recruitment campaign is present online, in print media and on outdoor advertising platforms and social media. Information for active pilots is also published in online and print industry magazines.

Lufthansa Group introduced the “flybig” campaign at the beginning of 2023 and plans to continue the promotional campaign in the following year. Their goal is not only to improve the image of the pilot profession, but also to increase the number of interested candidates by directing them to appropriate career channels and the website of the European Flight Academy (EFA), the aviation school of the Lufthansa Group.
